Although Andrew already has one Father’s Day notched on his belt, I’m really counting this as his first. Last year we had a 1 week old and I don’t think either one of us knew which way was up or down… it was all a blur!
I’m not going to lie and say becoming a father was all peaches and cream for him. It’s been a long road. As women, we have 40 weeks to prepare ourselves because we literally feel the change. Dads don’t get that same experience so I feel like the first year they are playing catch up. Not to mention if you are breastfeeding a lot of that time is spent with the mother. So, Andrew had to deal with a lot. Like most men, he is a little more self-involved and had to cope with sharing his time with me with Liv. By no means was it ever a big issue, it was just a process. He’s had to realize how important it is to get home 30 minutes earlier than when we need to pull out of town for a trip. Mommy can’t pack for herself, you, baby, the car and close up the house. I used to do all that…
But with all the changes and new learning experiences in parenthood, I have seen the very best come out in this man. A joy that I could never describe in words. A new outlook on life. A new reason to work so hard. The most precious type of love.
I think I love seeing that little girl light up more to see her Daddy walk through the door every evening than anything else in the world. I will be receiving the gift this upcoming holiday, the blessing of my child having a father that adores her. I love this man even more now that he is a Father!!
BUT… Just in case you’d like to spoil that man, here is a Father’s Day gift guide!
1 // Mizzen + Main Collared Shirt //
Andrew has started wearing these recently! They are so awesome because you don’t have to iron but get the polished look. Great for Summer!
2 // Personalized Grill Set //
Add a little personalization to his grill utensils! I live for a monogram.
3 // Traeger Junior Elite Grill //
This is the perfect addition to any tailgater’s set-up!
4 // YETI Rambler Tumbler //
RUN! I gifted this to Andrew for Christmas and he takes it everywhere! He keeps it filled with water all day and stays cold for hours. This is a necessity for any guy or girl rather! I even had Andrew’s monogrammed with his initials!
This is something you can do that can be inexpensive and sentimental. Print one of your favorite pictures of the kids in black and white and spend $10 at Hobby Lobby on a frame or go on the larger side for his office.
6 // Peter Millar Swim Trunks //
It’s Summer, and a reason to take the kids to the pool. Peter Millar is one of our favorite brands for men’s clothing!
7// James Avery Cuff //
Andrew has one in a different style and wears it every day. I love a guy in a cool piece of jewelry!
8 // Book The Sell – Fredrick Edlund //
Andrew won’t stop talking about this book. We watch Million Dollar Listing NY on Bravo and he is slightly obsessed with Fredrik… for good reason!
