“I love going shopping for denim?!” Said no one ever. I can honestly say that I recently threw away my favorite pair of jeans after wearing them for 3 years. They had holes on 3 belt loops, the knees had completely ripped wide open and they’d shrunk a good 3 inches. It was pitiful but the fit was incredible! Unfortunately, the fit was discontinued and so I was left wearing the other 45 pair of jeans I own.
Why is that always the case? We keep buying jeans and typically only wear 1-2 pair. Crazy. But it’s just how it goes.
So for the last few months I have been on a mission to find that new favorite pair and to my surprise, have found several!
MY TOP 3 DENIM LINES
7 for all Man kind
I am really into the 90s Mom fit right now. High waisted, snug around the bum and relaxed all the way to the ankle. I can’t wait for Spring and to pair these with my favorite slides and simple crew-neck tee.
GRLFRND
This line is newish and a little $$$ but worth every penny. Distressed denim is not as saturated in the market as we have seen it in the last few years but it’s still here. And these fit just like the name.. the perfect pair of girlfriend jeans. So thankful that this fit is easily accessible now because the boyfriend was no bueno on this girl.
Rag and Bone
This brand is my go-to and has been for a few years. What I love the most about this kind of denim is it never gets tricky. Simple with a classic fit. This pair of skinny’s are on the top of my list because the sit right at and snug my ankle perfectly. That is so hard to find!
A few tips on buying denim for your body type.
- Know your proportions. Waist height and hem height can make all the difference.
- Not all jeans are created equal. Quality over quantity. Good stretch, great fabrication, and awesome fit will go a long way.
- Stick to YOUR brands. If a certain brand fits you well, keep going back to it. We are all shaped differently so that’s the beauty in having so many options out there because some are going to fit you better than others.
- Alterations. This is something I am working on but pretty obvious. If you do find a pair that you can’t live without that aren’t quite the right fit… have them altered!
Just do you,
Dru
