I was so inspired yesterday. The outpouring of support and gratefulness for our troops past, today and future was incredibly moving. I am honored to have in my family Great Grandfathers, Grandfathers, Cousin-in-laws and Future Army Reserve (just announced…so excited for Blaze!) that have and will serve this great nation.
What truly amazes me is the influence these men and women have had over so many aspects of our lives including fashion.
I started going through my closet and was surprised to find quite a few pieces that are military inspired. Surprisingly none of this ensemble is remotely new. My vest is from high school and the pins are some of my Grandad’s. Love adding the pins to give the outfit something extra cool. Totally one of a kind.
I love the pomp and circumstance of a military inspired trench, the grunge of a camo jacket and effortlessness of a lace-up buckle boot.
All the uniforms worn by our military serve a purpose, they were crafted in a certain way to aid; whereas most fashion serves no true purpose, it allows you the freedom of expression.
Fashion is freedom. Go be free and just do you.
